is it possible for snakes to have seizures? Our dog(s) tense up real bad and have a gapping mouth (with panting tounge, but they're dogs) when in a seizure. When they do come out of it they are really, really thirsty.....

Get it to a vet, and keep us posted....

Yeah, snakes have seizures, but its a very bad sign...Its usually if they have gone a long time without water, or if they have been too cold for too long.Over exposure to poisons like vapona and cedar can do that too

You mentioned she is "not on heat" at the moment? What does this mean? She is in brumation, or you don't have a heat source?

Thanks for the heads up! I was told by a supposed great vet that snakes can't have seizures (Seems to be my run that I get animals that have seizures, so I thought I would ask) and they told me no!

Well needless to say i'm not going back there!

Quote "Seems to be my run that I get animals that have seizures" does this mean you have experienced this before. If so be concerned, be very concerned because something ain't right & is causing it. Whether it be an infectious RI in your room or Vapona or Cedar poisoning or whatever. If you have an animal or animals sick because of it you need to find the root cause ASAP! Hopefully its some "freak" ailment that only the one snake is affected by (& can hopefully be cured of) but you must protect yourself & your animals. Consider posting again with more attn. given to the husbandry (temps, substrates, conditions etc.) factors so people can maybe help you find the root cause (if one exists?) Without more info people can only really guess at whats wrong. Hope your snake gets better. Good Luck Mark

Again I'll say it more info requied. State everything you can possibly think of in reguards the situation. Too much info is never a bad thing, too little can be scary as things can be overlooked. Again good luck Mark

no! I have had cats dogs, birds, and I think a hamster I used to have would have them, not to sure on that one though. But no reptiles! Just the furry animals. And most of the time it was gentic, passed down from one of the parents.
