There was a post on ghost coloration recently and I thought I would post photos of our four '03 ghosts that are from 2 clutches. The male is definately the most colorful, with more coral tones and his yellow is coming in now on his neck. His clutchmate sister has more pink than the other two females that are out of a different female (but may be the same father). These two girls have greyer tones and one has quite a bit of fading in the saddles. Will be interesting to watch them mature. They were produced by Mark Isbell, so are related to those posted by Invictus previously (but not as large yet!)

Yes, ghosts are super varied. My male is nice and corally, and my female is light grey with very dilute pink in her body. I also had/have this "dark" ghost, now JungleJen's.

When I picked her out, she was a light grey, but then she turned this brownish colour. She's really interesting in terms of her colour change. She is also without a doubt a ghost, not an anery, as she is distinctively different from her anery siblings, who were stark black and white. Of course, her brothers were showing lighter colours and bits of pink. I saw the father, and he was a dark looking ghost. You rarely see these, but he sure had a lot of pink on him, but lacked the really light grey look. JungleJen will have to keep us updated on her colour change.

When I bought this male he was sold to me as a "pastel motley", It's been quite a few years ago and I think it is just another name for "ghost". He's a lot darker than most ghost that I see though. What do you think?

I was surfing around to find a pic of a dark ghost and I found this.

From the page http://www.halloffamereptiles.com/corn.htm Take a look at that page and see some amazing looking corns. I am in no way affiliated with this breeder.

Syco. I think your ghost is sweet!!

Pastel is a name that used to be applied to the really light ghosts.

Everyone - Great looking ghosts! These have always been among my favorites. Syco, your ghost motley is especially sweet. Great looking markings and color!

Mary - Looking great. I'm soooo looking forward to buying more corns from Mark. You got many of his snows as well if I'm not mistaken... have you noticed any color changes in them? One of mine has gone from Pink to an almost greeny-yellow hue. I'll try to get some pics soon!

Kat & Invictus- Thanks for the complements on Gonzo (my ghost) I'm feeling like a proud mama now! :D I'm hoping to breed him next year with a female striped motley het for amel.

Katt - that dark ghost is really interesting. Have seen quite a few photos that have been hard to tell from anerys. Makes me wonder if it isn't the influence of another of the hypo genes.

Syco - I love the pastel motley - very pretty snake.

Invictus - hope you post some photos of your snows. Mine are all girls and they vary a lot - mostly in saddles - whether they are split or not as well as in the white ground color. A few are getting a bit of yellow, but the saddle colors haven't varied too much yet. I will try and get some pics this weekend. I have one normal snow left and the rest are all hypo-snows so I am hoping to get some of the coral color in them from the hypo genes being present.

Mark - the corns are great - have placed a few because I really didn't need them all but they are just such sweet snakes. Will have to stay in touch about what you have going for stripes again this year!

Mary, I too wonder about those dark looking ghosts. So far I don't know anyone who has crossed a dark with a light. Perhaps I should pick up another dark ghost and pair her up with my light male. Or could leave that up to JungleJen to cross 'em!

... here's a female I have. Male is very nice too. Don't you think that there's obvious variations due to the "lineage"? That is, from different breeding situations. (Hets X hets, 2x hets X 2x hets, etc.) Plus.. the hypo "gene" is so widely variable and less understood to begin with...

A friend has the most outrageously beautiful ghost I've seen. I am STILL trying to talk him out of it. A huge male.l The colors are unbelievable. Add to that a zig-zag stripe and.... well, I must have it....lol! Maybe I can get pics at least, huh?

with hypo A,B,C,D,E and now a possible F there is little surprize that any hypoX lacks a specific look. With corns the hypo specific look or specific X's should be the next big breeding projects IMHO.
