All of the literature that I have read states that Ahaetulla prasina venom is fairly mild causing pain and mild edema. The venom is used to mainly subdue small lizards and birds. Any venomous snake bite should be treated as if there is a possibility for a serious reaction though.

To quote myself from a much earlier post:
"I was bitten by mine trying to extract her from my stereo cabling when she accidentally went wandering once, they are -incredibly- fast when they want to be and very hard to hook. It caused redness where the punctures were, a very slight amount of localized swelling, and the area felt hot for about 6 hours. No headache, no other pain or noticable symptoms. Not to say you should be careless, but I would not consider them to be dangerous unless you had allergies."

I have kept them for 2 years now and had no adverse reaction to being bitten other then to compare it to a fire ant sting. However I would not want one to latch on and have time to really inject venom. Mine are eating Large X breeder mice, When they do bite and hold on such as in a feed responce death is very quick making me beleive with a good bite it could become serious to humans especially if one has allergic reactions to other stings or bites.

They can be pretty nasty. I saw someone who got tagged by one. He swelled up like mad and he felt like crap for a week. Best to use hooks when you work with them for sure. Anything with venom glands and fangs should be treated with respect. There is no reason to get envenomated by these snakes. They are REALLY easy to wrangle and their strike isn't very fast, quite easy to dodge if the situation comes up.
no matter how potent a bite may be, avoid all of them ...

Thanx for the info. It's good to know what you are dealing with it the time ever comes and a bite does occure. I like to research my animals before I get them and I was having a hard time finding info other that mild venom with no explaination beside it. Thanx again
