I just went to the petstore and I was telling the owner that I was about to buy some blizzard 2 for $100, He said he had one with a tramatized tail that he would sell to me for $30 it has aready started to grow back, and it looks healthy and fat. It is a baby so would the regrown tail look like the original one? the nub looks just like the other leo's in a past post.
I dont think it will be like the original
thats sad hes a baby with no tail :(

Is $30 a good price for a blizzard with a missing tail?
I would say yes. A missing tail doesn't take away from the geckos pet value and if you feel it would be a good pet for 30 bucks, its worth it.
Leos also DO grow their tails back. Some of them grow back almost exact, others grow back quite different looking. Either way it doesn't take away from the geckos health generally and it will probably be a great pet.

Id take it forsure...post pics id like to see him/her
good luck with it if you purchase it
I just wanted to say that in the years I have been working with leopard geckos I have NEVER ONCE HAD ONE DROP ITS TAIL! I do know it happens but its usually the result of poor husbandry in my opinion. Not necessarily with regards to food or temps or other housing requirments. I just feel its usually the result of an animal thats probably been produced in a large colony that gets little one on one attention. I am not saying that the leopard in question won't eventually become tractable, but its a good chance its never been handled more than a few times. Also with the blizzard morph I have noticed some of them tend to be high strung even down right mean! Well hope this helps.

I don't know how it lost it's tail maybe from a cage mate? I will ask him saturday. He also told me that the value of blizzards has dropped is this true?
Blazin, I'd like to respecfully disagree.
I have a female, nearly 13 year old, who lost her tail. She lost it just a couple years ago. Why? She got in a scrap with another 13 year old female over some food. They'd been housed together their whole lives, in a 33 gallon tank.
I know of quite a few cases where it's an accident, like the keeper accidentally dropping something on the gecko's tail.
Also, I find most blizzards to be nut cases. I don't think that if this animal is hyper/mean it indicates it was raised in sub-par standards.
I do agree with you however, that people who raise leos in crowded conditions seem to supply lots more animals with broken tails, wheras it's a rarity for other breeders. I just don't think you can say a broken tail = poorly treated gecko...
And yes, the value of blizzards has dropped. A few years ago they were a couple thousand a piece. Now they are quite cheap. Same as albinos. Happens quickly with recessive traits in leos, since they are so fecund. :)

Thanks for the info
In Response to Jen. I think I need to clarify myself. My writing usually leaves much to be desired as far as expressing myself properly. On the point of blizzards being "hyper" or "mean" I believe this trait is genetic and passed on regularly in the Blizzard line. That being said the incidence of tail autotomy could very likely increase with this strain under less than desirable conditions. The type of conditions found in Petshops, large scale crowding at "leopard mills" or wholesalers. This also reminds me of a really good article recently published on the temperment of Anacondas and the link to it being heriditary.
