View Full Version : What inverts does everyone keep?

Cockroach

This has probly been asked before, but can everyone list what inverts you all keep? Like my name, I keep cockroaches, but I also have a few other inverts. Here goes:

1,500+ Lobster Cockroaches(N. cinerea)

32 Discoid Cockroaches(B. discoidales)

7 Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches(G. portentosa)

Darkling Beetles(Mealworm colony)

Common Dermestid Beetles

1 Jumping Spider

I stopped using crickets as feeders when I switched over to the Lobsters as feeders. The Hissers and the Discoids are pets, and I won't use them as food for my herps. The Dermestids are used to eat the mice that my cats catch. The jumping spider was one I caught on my wall, and she'll eat any small insect I place in her container.

we used to have a Emp scorp but he died he was a rescue. my kids each have a pink toe sling 1 for each of them. and a rosey that is sooo mean that she takes a run at me everytime i change the water in her tank. anyone have an idea why she's so nasty ? she didn't use to be but after her last molt she's turned psycho. I feed her 1 cricket a day now that she's eating again, but she won't let you near her she'll rear up and try to bite you i'm starting to get scared of her as i'm allergic to spider bites. I used to be terrified of spiders not so much now though...lol

liltattyprincess: Sorry to hear about your psycho rosie, a few will become this way after a molt... It's not just with this species but it seems to be a little more common. She might turn nice again after her next molt, who knows...

As far as my invert collection goes, I have:

0.1 Mexican red knee 5 - 5 1/2" (Charlotte)
0.1 Cobalt blue 4 1/2 - 5" (Kitana)
0.1 Usumbara baboon 4 1/2" (O.J.)
0.1 Texas tan 4" (Sally)
0.0.1 Goliath bird eater 3 1/2" (Tonka)
0.1 Curly hair 4" (Maria)
1.0 Chilean rose 2 1/2 - 3" (Rocco)
0.1 True feather leg (stromatopelma calceatum) 3" (Lady Godiva)
0.0.1 White toe 1 1/2" (Fluffy)
0.1 Mexican black velvet 2 - 2 1/2" (Pandora)
0.0.1 Indian ornamental 1 1/4" (Dharma)
0.0.1 Chaco golden knee 1" (Pedro)

0.0.1 Emperor scorpion 3" (Eugene)

Hehehe. I wonder how many female G.rosea out there are named MJ. My first T was named MJ and I have already had a sac from her and Peter. :) She is actually in cooling now with the aim of getting another sac from the same parentage -- not many species you can even try that with.

Cheers,
Dave

Ok, dumb question...
what's the joke with 'mary-jane'? I don' get it....

I hesitate to name any of my slings, I know I will get more, and that will get pretty confusing...

I did name my white-toe Socks.
