I Just got an other Sav droped off at my home and unfortunetly, it has about half of his (probably her) tail missing.. The tip is not rotten but It is not a clean cut. There is a piece of bone sticking out ..

Aparently it has been like so for quite a while but It is of a bit off worry. I know monitor s are tough and it really does not seem like a recent injury but I am debating on wether I should intervin or not.. It was also fed strickly a beef and chicken diet all his life.. Unfortunetly, i am pretty pessimistic and don't think she will live more the a few years no matter what I do to bring her back to health. Although I will probably keep her for a few month until I find a proper home for her as it upsets me too much to animals pass away on me.. I hate being helpless..

Whats your thoughs on the matter?

Id take it to a vet man, they will most likely cut it where the skin ends and cauterize it.. Just to completely close off the wound. Good luck with it

I intended too.. this really pisses me when ppl lay there problem on someone else.. hopefully our only reptillian vet is not off tomorow..

Linds.. Its about 2 feet (about 6 inches of tail missing) ..
Hes at least 2 yo.. probably too late imo.

On an other note.. It really is quite interesting how these animals can sustain such injuries and go along with their lives as nothing had previously hapenned .. Varanids never cease to amaze me.
