My female Gaboon stopped feeding 3 weeks ago........ She is most likely gravid....... The male and female started copulating in early september......... It seems to be alittle early for her to stop feeding but being that I keep the male and female together all year they could have started earlier then I think....... She is getting bigger and bigger every time I look at her......... I just wish I knew when to expect some neonates........ But I guess waking up one morning to a cage full of baby gaboons unexpectedly, could be nice too......

Big females can have an average of 30 babies........ Sometimes more sometimes less....... The young are very agressive feeders....... I have never hade a problem getting neonates to eat........ A gaboon can be gravid for 6 months.......... In the wild they copulate during the wet season and the babies are born in time for the next wet season........ That is when food is more abundant......

Gregg I have to be the voice of concern here but you just had an Gaboon die of suspecious circumstances. Could she have possibly contracted anything?

Damn it Scott!!!!!!!!! Trying to get me all nervous or something???? Or are you trying to jinx me???? LOL......... Actually the necro came back inconclusive....... No bacteria, no viruses, no fungus, no worms or anything........ Cause of death is unknown........ Only thing wrong with it was its lack of venom glands....... The operation was done cleanly........ There was no infection........ Besides she was not in the hot room........ She was far from the other snakes and I used different tools with her.......... And my big female is not loosing any weight at all....... Infact she looks bigger then she did a month ago......
