That's a picture of a snake, not a cage... :)

Fake plants. In my BP's glass enclosure I used suction cups with hooks and draped fake vines on them. Unfortunately he'd knock themo off almost every night so I had to take them down.

I use ReptiBark substrate in my cages for a more natural appearance. It spot cleans like a dream and absorbs moisture while providing extra humidity. It's expensive though, $8us a bag, and I'm looking for a comparable replacement right now.

I also like aquarium decorations. I have a neat gargoyle *stone* archway in front of my BP's hidebox. His hidebox is a heavy duty stone *cave* that I purchased from a pet store. On top of that are some branches for him to climb on. I also have a natural stone looking water bowl. It's an irregualr shape which makes it look more natural than a dog dish.

My Boa's enclosure is unfortunately not as realistic. Branches, a flowerpot as a hide box, and a big blue kitty litter pan.

I find it's 100x easier to decorate smaller animals enclosures because there's not much on the market for six foot snakes. Everything is so small and the larger, more natural looking items cost an arm and a leg.

Good luck!

You can also use those aquarium backgrounds. I've been meaning to buy some for a while.

This is what I did with my Kingsnake one, if that gives you any ideas.

In my spotted python enclosure I have an aquarium background.

S&T; Is that dirt in your cage? Also, what's going in it?

it is forest bed mixed with jungle earth. on the other side i'm sure you can tell that it is aspen shavings. i already have two red-tails and a royal python in it

I would advise seperating the python from the boas. Is that a heat rock in there as well? Hard to make out, the picture quality is not all that great, and neither does the husbandry thus far.

To me it looks as if you need to do some research a.s.a.p. Take note of the ideas here as they may help out tremendously for you. If you want a natural look, you may want to use fir bark substrates, the use of fake plants and creative water bowls and hides. For heat I would strongly recommend an UTH (under tank heater) for each of your boids. You will need a lot more room down the line for the boas and will need large cages (4 x 2 x 1 at the least).

ok, in the tank right now i have aspen shavings on one side for now (my boa's seem to love it as they constantly go to the bottom of a 5" pile of the stuff) and on the other side it's jungle earth (which i was told is good for absorbing moisture which in turn raises humidity a bit) mixed with forest bed (which is supposed to do the same thing). that isn't a heat rock in there it is a small cave i got from work (yes i know they need a bigger one, my big boa curls up under it and it actually lifts off the ground lol) i also have a UTH under half of the aspen as well as a heat lamp to keep ambient air temp. at what it is supposed to be. there is also a UV light in there which i turn on during the day. i know they are pretty much useless, but because my room is in the basement it stays somewhat dark during the day, so it allows them to have a day/night cycle. i will be making the cage about 2'-2.5' taller tomorrow to allow me room to build climbing structures. i also have a background (that has a foresty picture on it) but my snake decided to climb in behind it and knocked it onto my heat lamp so i'm going to have to staple it on rather than tape it on. we learn from our mistakes right? i also might pick up some (i think it's like fiberglass or foam stuff) to make half of the new, bigger cage look like an actual rock cave. i've seen it done in other cages and it looks really neat.
