The guy at the local petstore Told me That he doesn't feed his geckos as much as he should so they won't grow as fast. My question is could this hurt the gecko? They are not skinny and look healthy. My geckos I got from another place where about the same size and now they double his leos sizes. So knowing this should I not buy any leo's from him? I think he just does this with the leo's for $ale, not his own personal ones.

Sounds to me like he's a cheap bas**** and shouldn't keep any pets. Yes, by under feeding he is doing harm. I would suggest NOT buying ANYTHING from him and make sure other people know about this too. I can't believe he's trying to cut costs by feding less, which is imo what he is doing! *grrrrrr.....*

Would you under feed a puppy to keep it a puppy because you know puppies sell faster then dogs? Go in and ask him that then tell him you are going to report him for cruelty against animals.
"Keep em cold and keep em hungry. That's how you keep your burm smaller longer so you can take it to more shows for a longer period of time." The next time I hear some dumb *** reptile show person say that I'm going to drop them on the spot!
I'm sorry for the rant but I'm hearing too much of this kind of thing lately and the only thing that buggs me more is the keeper who keeps more then he can clean!

Just...wow. It blows me away that people do things like that.
Like Julie said, don't by a thing from him, and maybe spread the word....

I don't know if he is doing this for cost or so they can sale , Most people want babies or juvies not usually adults right? Are adults harder to sale, like dogs? But it is still wrong!

there's always that thought of buying it so that it will have a better owner but if u do the pet store will just buy another leo from the market to starve and u cant keep buying their expensive animals forever so no, dont buy from them. in fact, tell them u wont buy from them and tell em how underfeeding is bad

Well I could tell him that but he is a Leo "expert" well he says he is and I thought he was until I joined this forum. I have learned alot since then. He will probably say it doesn't hurt them and he breeds leo's so he knows. He says he has 60 leo's at his home. and I have seen his personal ones in the back of his store that he breeds and the are fat and healthy. The ones he is selling seem to be healthy but they just don't seem to be growing as fast as mine. I feed mine every other day with dusted crix and I all ways have a dish with mealworms and a few waxworms. Next time I talk leo's with him I will bring up that my leo's are growing faster than his, and if he tells me the same thing I will tell him what you all said, and recommend his forum to him. These leo's that I am talking about are patternless and blizzards $60 &$80 and I really want a female patternless juvie. He has the best prices I have seen except for extremereptiles but they are out : ( But I will not buy from him!!!
