i am so fustrated right now, some******* moron knocked over my leo dish of 4 double het patternless albino's that i got from tim and julie b and i've been looking for the last two hours and i've only come up with 1 of them, there's 4 possible rooms they could be in i can pretty much conclude that they're not in one of them, but the other three...two of the rooms are large storage area,s with literally hundreds of things in them, and they have floorboards which they could easily crawl under,to get them all i'll probably have to lift up every friggen thing in that storage area drag it down a flight of stairs, and repeat a couple hundred times, and eventually if i don't come up with anything,i'll have to tear up the floor boards!!!!then there's another room that reaks of dog crap from an untrained puppy with a whole bunch of stuff on there floor to throughly search everything this will take me forever....i've already dropped a 25 pound weight on my foot which i might add hurt like a *****,sorry had to vent,as i am extremely irritated, wish me luck, any advise would be of great help...

I had a two day old hatchling decide he was partially arboreal and climb out of his cage last spring. I just waited until the lights went out and grabbed a flashlight. He was recaptured a couple of days later.

Bob, that's good advice from Lowell - it works for us as they will come out at night...you may lose a few hours sleep but it's worth it.
Lowell - just had one of the female vorax escape..put the dish of baby food in the cage, left the door open and guess what!! Nothing short of a miracle that!!
I have a few escapee stories to tell - another thread sometime perhaps.

Would the leo's try to go to the warmest part of the house?

That really sucks! Try also putting a heat source of some kind in the room they escaped in. Maybe a heat pad or hot rock with a water dish near by. At night they will probably go straight to it to get a drink and warm up. I once lost an adult and I couldn't find her for 4 days. With two cats and two dogs I got pretty worried, but she turned up in the reptile room:D Just be patient and cross your fingers!

Place lines of baby powder on the floor in the doorways.

Never use chemicals with reptiles! Baby powder may be mostly talcum, but it is loaded with chemical based fragrances. If you want to "track" them use bran or sand. Though these are small babies and at the most you will be able to tell that they have walked in but not through the trap.

thanks guys i haven't had much luck finding them as my storage space is already pretty warm,so i'm assuming thats why they haven't fallen for the bait...anyways i was just wondering does anyone know if there is such a thing that is meant for catching mice without harming them, that they go into, and once they do a door shuts behind them??,because if there is i was thinking about trying to put mealies in there or something and catching them that way...lol,i'm not sure how a trap like that would be rigged up,but i'm just kinda worried here i don't want my cat to find them before i do(although i do make sure my cat does NOT go upstairs, not saying everyone else will remember though)i just wanna catch them before something bad happens or they starve,lol...the starving thing would probably take awhile,i have crickets escaping all the time, and i throw 4-5 crickets in each storage space a night,so i imagine they'd be o.k until i've found them as i've heard of people losing hatchlings and finding adults months later,as long as there's food HOPEFULLY they'll be o.k until they're located...

You can buy live traps, though I do not know where. Maybe call around to a few stores like Canadian Tire, Walmart, pet stores and such to see if anyone carries anything like that. I wish you the best of luck finding them:D

bob, i had one of my leo's climb out of our cage and actually climbed a flight of stairs and hid behind our deep freeze for 4 days without food or water. I ended up climbing behind a wall from the floor below and found her alive and doing well. well actually she was covered in dust and a little hungry and thirsty but other than that she was ok. like the others said, grab a flashlight and look around when it is dark.

arg....just when i thought i was never going to find one,i found one just walking out in the hallway, then it ran away and under the storage space door, which my mother had locked today for the first day since they went missing,i ran to get the keys, ran back up,and of course by the time i got up there and unlocked it she was nowhere's to be found,i took everything out of that storage spaceand i still haven't found her...anyways i blocked of the exit so she can't get back out,so when she decides to come out, there'll be fewer places tp hide, wish me luck!
well at least now it seems like you have a better chance in finding her. I hope u find her soon :)

Good thing you dont keep hots.......LOL....... I hope you find them.......
Nothing sucks worse than when someone else causes an accident like that! You can try making your own one way traps out of plastic pop bottles as well. Flour can also be used to track them. Good luck with the little guys!

thanks linds...how would that work exactly??i did manage to catch one(unfortunately half of her tail is missing...but she looks to be well otherwise,i applied polysporin on it,and all should go well,i still have one on the go here,so linds of you could tell be how to rig up a trap that would be great,as a mouse trap is to small to fit worms in,and a rat trap won't work either...
