If it was mites they may be visible through handling or on the counter. As for internal the only way would be to get a fecal done by a vet. The best bet to avoid and parasites is to buy from reputable breeders/distributors. I guess this is more advice than info, sorry.

yea, afraid mark129er is right, the only "advise" is that somebody with "great prices" is probably one you should avoid, all i can say is like mark said get one from a reputable breeder, and pick the healthiest looking one with the fattest tail you can find!!!

Just because someone offers great prices does not mean the animals are unhealthy. Just make sure to visit all of the tables selling leos and buy the healthiest ones you see. If you want to check for mites examine the eyes. Make sure there are no black or red bugs. If you see any report it to the person running the show and stay away form those leos! Another indication of an unhealthy leo is the tail. Be sure they are nice and plump, have no old shed stuck to them and no tail nips-not that it is bad to see a nipped tail, but it may mean the leos are all housed together by the breeder which can cause some to be poor eaters. Other than that the only way to tell if something is wrong is to get a fecal done, which you can't really do until you take the leo into your posession. Good luck and have fun at the show:D
