hey guys
just wondering how long should it take for a baby leo to eat?he's already had his first shed(i think,i didn't actually see it happen but his colors are pretty bright so it's just an asumption)the other two hatchings before him ate a little sooner then this,he's somewhere between the 4-5 day mark,he seems to be o.k health wise very energetic, screeches if i go to close to him,no deformities or anything bad like that, how long do you guys think i should wait before shifting into panic mode?thanks for any help everyone as always,i really do appreciate it!

My understanding is it's not at all unusual for a new leo to not eat till after it's first shed. which is usually around 5-7 days off the top of my head. Then again i'm just going from memory here and have no actual experience raising leos from hatchlings yet. Talk to me in 6 months and i'm sure i'll have all sorts of horror stories for you :)

I'd give him till the 1 week mark before I started to get worried.

Usually baby leos won't eat until after there first shed which is usually after the first shed (about a week after hatching). Are you feeding the babies crix or mealies. Some of them will only eat mealies some will eat only crix. and some will eat both. In my experince with hatchlings (i've breed for 3 seasons now) some are stubborn and won't eat until after their 2nd shed. Give him/her a little more time and see how it goes. Also is this leo by itself or with other hatchlings???

thanks guys, drewlowe the hatchlings are kept by themselves as i like to monitor their eating, and wanna make sure one is not a bully to the other(don't want no lost tails here!!lol)i've tryed both crickets and mealies,i guess it's just a matter of waiting..

Yeah give it a good week to see how things are going. If he's not eating by then give us a shout and i'll try to help. Most likely he/she may still be full from the yolk.
