Hello
I have the Chrysopelea ornata that I feed with the dead rodents. I heard to say that the UV are necessary for this species. Is this really necessary (especially if I feed with rodents)?

Thank you

I use UV on mine. and they seem to be doing great! so i would say spend the extra money and get a UV light. i feed mine rodents too...

I would imagine that it would be the UVA part of the light which is more beneficial, rather than the UVB. The UVA is sensed by the peneal gland and helps herps cycle through seasons. It also helps most herps see better and I would imagine that would be what a Chrysopelia needs. Considering that its pretty sight oriented, like most arboreal colubrids.

Are the UVB necessary for Chrysopelea ornata and Ahaetulla prasina? If I take a tube ReptiSun 5.0 with UVA and UVB does that agree? How long do I have to make operate it per day?
