Hi!
I was thinking about feeding my leos and then I came up with a question for u guyz :).
Here it is:
My high yellow female has a huge tail, when she produces her eggs this spring will her tail downsize a bit?
Thanks!

Yup it will get thinner not shorter. Thats why you really have to feed them up in the winter.

yea, you have to get them nice and plump before breeding them because they will not eat for a week or two while they have the eggs in them, you will also have to supliment extra vitamins so the eggs turn out hard and healthy. When people winterize them they stop feeding them as much and then when they are ready to make it breeding season they give the leopard A LOT of food so that they feel like its summer and time to breed. So you dont really have to winterize them but its good to give her a lot of food. Good luck with ur breeding and keep us posted on ur sucess!

Thanks!
When can I start to feed her a lot and when does the breeding season start?

if i remember right (i haven't bred leo's in a few years), the breeding season is february thru september. my females were real skinny after laying eggs, also.

i have a book on leopards and it says the season is in between feb and sep like lisa said and you would start the cooling part during mid-janurary and then you could start feeding them a lot right at the beginning of feb or mid feb

i never cooled my leo's before breeding. leo's don't need it. they'll breed anyway.
