some of the descriptors I use to describe this species are psychotic, schitzo, flipped lol this thing hates movement, tongs, hooks, people, light, and about everything else. No species has been nastier to work with, though some have been faster and/or hotter. http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/272Pict0017.jpg

I've got a trio of bilineata myself and I agree wholeheartedly. They suck on a hook; I use pilstroms and trap boxes myself. They compensate though with great behaviours and loads of personality. With your regards to your comment about things hotter though, I should point out that fully one-third of bites require amputation and bites are inevitably highly necrotic with a high untreated mortality. I say this simply because some people assume all agkistrodon are as realitively mild as copperheads.
Thanks for the photo:)

well I sure woulkd not want to make any false assumptions about these animals: Cantil (Agkistrodon bilineatus) Mouse LD50 (mg/kg) : 0.80 Venom yield per snake (mg) : 50.0-95.0 compared to King cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) Mouse LD50 (mg/kg) : 0.90 Venom yield per snake (mg) : 350.0-500.0 or Wagler's pitviper (Tropidolaemus wagleri) Mouse LD50 (mg/kg) : 0.75 Venom yield per snake (mg) : 65.0-90.0
obviously a bad a$$ snake all around.

They are very closely related, and like chas*e said they are a bit touchy and are also a bit hotter then coppers and cottons......

That is hands down one of the prettiest bilineatus I have ever seen! Somkeing animal!!!! I cant wait aquire a pair. Untill then I will settle for their insane cousins, A.taylori! Though I think they hook better, they are still just as nasty!! Hey, do the bilineatus death roll their prey like my taylori do? Crazy snakes!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for shareing!

Later,
Jeremy
