Going out on monday to catch some timbers....... Should be a good day out in the mountains........ I know they will all be out basking by the den site........ I will post pics after the day....... Hopefully I will find some coppers too....... Only found 3 this year so far and two of them was by mistake...... Also I rescued a small vemomoid gaboon this week........ The poor little thing........ My friends girlfriends son who is 15 years old picked one up at the last hot show at hamburg........ Against what I had said to him and his mother he got it anyway......... I gave him a real hard time after he got it but also gave him all the info he needed to keep it healthy and happy.......... The poor snake is so dehydrated the skin on the sides is all wrinkled up and you can see the entire spine down the back of the snake......... I put it in a big rubbermaid with water and it drank for nearly a half an hour....... I also fed it and it ate like it has never seen a mouse before........ After being in the water for 2 hours it did not poop so I guess it has not been fed in a long time........ After my friend came and told me about the situation I had him contact his girlfriend and I convinced her to give the snake up and let me care for it........ It is such a pretty snake and I may keep it for breeding stock........ So I now have one venomoid in my collection........ This is yet another reason I hate the idea of venomoids......... It is too easy for a kid to buy one and not take care of it the right way........ By the way, This snake will be treated as if it was hot and you will never see a pic of me freehandling it, posted here, ever......

Gregg. I just finished setting up my Gaboon in his new cage and wanted to run everything by you to make sure it was all good and i didnt forget anything. Here goes. 4 foot long Vision tank Locking. Substrate is eco-earth,2 live pothios<sp> plants 2 large water bowls equaling 3gallons one with a waterfall in it. Heat is 88 degrees humidity is 65%. Here is a pic of it to help. Thanks Scott.

Good piont Chuck....LOL..... Just changed it........ Hey Scott..... It sounds good to me...... Looks nice too........ If you are gonna have more than one gaboon in there I would do away with the decor, but for one it is fine........ The subsrate is good but dont let it get soaked......... I use visions for all my gaboons........ My huge breeders are in custom built cages but anything under 4 feet long gets a vision cage........ I would put a water dish under the light........ Gaboons really dont bask and the light over the dish will keep the humidity up to a good even level........ 65% is right about where it should be so you are good there........ 88 degrees is good for the hot end and 70 to 75 degrees is good for the cool end......... Looks like you are gonna have a very happy, healthy gaboon......... Congratulations!!!!!!!!! How big is it??? How old is it????? Male or female???? If you want more let me know........ All you guys here will get a special price if you buy some from me in 7 months.....LOL

Gregg 4 to 4 1/2 foot male.No telling on age as it was a wild caught nice disposition compared to Mrs Grumpy lol. This came from Ray Hunter and might i add he has rhinos also.I think once they shed they will be outstanding. Now if someone distracts him for a minute there shall be one less cute baby cobra for him to have to feed.

Gregg you wanna trade a Pigmy baby for a gabby baby lol.Had to try.

I was under the impression you had to still be 18 to buy a venomoid..

Unfortunately xain some people will sell to anyone at the hot shows.I know of several stories of people selling in the parking lots to children and or selling it to the childs parent knowing full well its for the kid.

Scott, You had your chance at baby cobras. You should have picked one up yesterday. Come by when you're ready.

***note to J.: I now have a copy of Scott's FL Venomous Reptile Permit in my grubby fat hands.

I dont even have space for a baby pigmy at this point.....LOL..... I will trade one for 50 bucks though........ I allways have room for cash.....LOL..... That aint bad for 3rd generation CBB....... But that is only for ssnakess members....... Scott, those rhinos will shed out to be awsome........ They usually do........ They come in covered in mud and baked on dirt........ What a difference a shed makes........ Krok, like Scott said, people will sell to anyone sometimes....... Money talks and BS walks..... Plus his mom was there to actually buy it........ But it is in good hands now......... Not literally.......

A six foot cotton? Sweet!

Gregg, I dont own any snakes, but just outta curiousity, how do you make one end of a cage 88 degrees, and the other end 10-12 degrees cooler?

Big cage....LOL...... A large cage with vents....... Its easy to control temps and humidity in vision cages by bulb wattage and covering some vents and leaving others open........

Sweet setup Scott. Let me know how the Gabby goes. I almost bought him in SC but didn't think GA DNR would like that.
