View Full Version : Variegata growth rate
I measured my Irian Jaya last night and she has only grown 3 inches (from 25 to 28) in the last 5 months. Does that sound about right? She is not a phenomenal eater but she rarely refuses. She generaly gets fed every 7 days unless in shed.
My male has grown 8 inches within the last two months on a 6 day feeding regimen. I don't know whether yours is growing slow or mine is growing fast or what but I have had mine on small rat pups since he was 25 inches(he's almost 31 now) and I use calcium powder on a food item every 4 meals so that could be why mine is growing fast.
8 inches in 2 months is a lot! Well, I don't have mine on rats yet. Still hopper mice.
Maybe that's why? I'm definitely not an expert with variegata but I figured that the rats and odd dusting of the food item would get him past the very small and delicate stage so I can hold him easier and it did the job.

I think I'm going to try the calcium power every four feedings. I just got my IJC and want to see if I get similar results.
