I thought it might be neat to see what snakes are found in your province or state. Here's what we have in good old Manitoba...

Northern Redbelly Snake - Storeria occipitomaculata occipitomaculata

Western Plains Garter Snake - Thamnophis radix hydeni

Red-Sided Garter Snake - Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis

Plains Hognose Snake - Heterdon nasicus nasicus

Smooth Green Snake - Opheodrys vernalis

Not as many as Florida but we do have some cool snakes up here too. ;) What's found where you live? :)

Timber Rattlesnakes (Crotalus horridus) are listed as extirpated in Ontario, this means that they no longer occur in Ontario but occur elsewhere. This designation is officially assigned by COSEWIC; the MNR, however, still lists Timbers as endangered. The general consensus is that C. horridus have been extirpated and the MNR should be updating their designations in the very near future.
