Hey......i HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt it......but I would really like to get a carpet. But I no almost nothing really.......well not that little but not enough to own one?
I want a snake that stays nice and small too........so I'm guessing the Irian Jaya?? If tehre are better suggestions please tell me. Any info and pictures would be just great!!
Don
Irians are great for what you are looking for. They are tame, small (4-6 feet) and beautiful (of course, like any ssp, there are ugly ones).
Jungles don't get very big either, though, more like 5-7 feet I guess? They are neat looking and easy to care for too, a little bit nippier sometimes perhaps.
You can't go wrong with either SSP.

I've heard alot of stories were its hard to switch IJ to rats....is this true?? If anything I like the IJ Carpet.......Jungles have a bigger size capabilty and I already own a Burm and Boa
IJs can be hard if you get one that's been fed steady on mice. Get one thats been started on rats, and you'll be fine!

i've had no problems feeding my ij's on rats...but I agree with zoe, has to be started as early as possible.

They are becoming less and less rare every day. Its a morph of the Coastal Carpet Python, so its not rare (as in its endangered in the wild). Every year, more and more are produced. Damn coolest Carpet I've ever seen.

I love coastals as well. But I thought you were looking for a smaller snake. Coastals can reach 12 feet. They definitely are NOT small. ;) In fact, if I'm not mistaken, they are the largest Morelia. Can anyone confirm/deny this for me?

Well actually Morelia kinghorni gets larger, they are the aussi scrub python. They have been known to get upwards of 20 feet!

The largest morelia is Morelia kinghorni.......I think they can get over 20 feet. Plus some of the scrubs are way bigger than coastals.

1st of all, Morelia familie includes alot of snakes that are not carpet pythons.
2nd of all, True jaguars ARE EXPENSIVE! Do your reasearch. They are selling for $6000 a pair. It depends on the mutation. There are hypos which are even more.
Jaguar siblings on the other hand, are cheaper, but not cheap. There is a trio selling for $1000 on KS (these are all US prices by the way) And a jaguar sibling is not a jaguar. Although, it is nicer than a normal coastal.
Will Leary has a coastal that he believes is topped out at ONLY 5 feet. But that is a rarity.
Bredl or centralian are beautiful, but expensive. And large.
JCPs are also beautiful, they get about a foot or two bigger than IJs.
IJCP are as you know the smallest. Some are very beautiful. Some get very drab with age. If you dont care what it looks like as it gets older, than just go with a reputable breeder. If you plan on breeding them, you may want to look into something of higher quality.
Come play at www.moreliapythons.com
Its a fantastic site with some of the most knowledgeable breeders contributing to the threads.
Coastals are the largest morelia SPILOTA, so you were partly right :)
