Patternless Albinos???

I hatched both these from my DH Patternless Tremper Albino group about 3-4 weeks ago. From different clutches/mothers. How are you supose to tell if they are in fact a Patternless Albino? Help?....Dan?? your oppinion would be great! Thanks :)

That is a red wipeable marker that I marked the outside of the container with....lol

from what I've heard patternless albinos have pink markings instead of the usual brownish colored markings on them. They can't produce melanistic coloration. I could be wrong on this but this is what I have been told makes the difference between normal patternless and patternless albino. ;)

So if the skin is pink instead of that darkish color then yes, they are albinos. :)

They look like really bright patternless babies. In the patty albinos the burgundy is replaced by white. In the pics the spotting on the top of the hatchlings is pretty purple also their tails are purple. In the patty albinos the tails are bright white as well. I also find the patternless babies from my double hets are very bright compared to some of my normal patternless babies from other groups.

Beth Wallbank hatched a few of those from a group I traded her last year and thought they might be patty albinos because they were so bright.

Shortly there after she did actually hatch a patty albino and she said there is no mistaking them from the others.

They literally glow in the dark when you look at them for the first time. You will definately know right away when you get a patternless albino.

I would definately hold on to those if their girls and breed them back to your DH male this will increase your odds considerably for next year. That is how I produced my first Tremper patty albino. I bred a unrelated DH for patternless albino male to a holdback Tremper albino 66% poss. het for patternless female I had produced last year. Well the female turned out to be a definate het and bam out popped a patternless albino.

hey Dan,
are you saying that the tail and head are completely white, with no spotting? Just curious because there are so many different descriptions of these guys. lol.
Here is a post that someone put on Rep. Rascals. Is that an albino? It isn't bright but it seems to have a white tail and over all white look to the head and very light pink spotting.

Those are patternless, het albinos. Trust me, for the longest time awaiting the patternless albinos to hatch I was confused. When you get a patternless albino hatch out you will definitely notice the difference. Good luck.

just ran and took some pictures for you to help you Teresa. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks Jen, that is what I thought but I got really confused with the discriptions. :) Seeing Beth's pics really put it in perspective though. :) Those are some awesome leos!!

Basically what I was trying to say was what Beth showed in her pics. The patternless hets have the burgundy spotting on the head body and tail. The patternless albinos still have spotting in the same places but its white. The yellow coloration is also more intense.

The mature into two totally different looking adults as well. Those of you who have patternless adults may notice that they may gray or green up a bit as they age. This is due to fact that they have a certain degree of melanin in their coloration so they do darken up a bit. With the patternless albino adults they have no melanin so they actually stay bright neon yellow as adults and actually get brighter and develop a carrot tail. At least the Rainwater strain patternless albinos do.

Basically they are smokin looking animals and even the best hypo tangerine carrot tails out there may take a back seat to a full grown adult male patternless albino.

Once you see them in real life theres no going back. LOL

Beth- You said they would be Patternless het Albino? I am breeding DH's... so wouldnt they be just possible het for Albino?

If you bred double hets to each other resulting in patternless babies, then yes, they would be patternless, 66% poss het albino. Sam as if an albino comes out.

This is my "normal" patternless every one mistakes for a patternless albino. She is a gorgious leo!!!! Much brighter than all my others, although my male is just as bright as her most of the time, then I have one other girl and two juvies that are much darker almost purple looking at times. And yes, I know she is just a normal patternless but what a nice bright girl she is. She also has the shorter tail. I think it is cute!! :D
