HEy i was just wondering what everyones open opinions are on nile monitors and what they think of them

I think they are awesome, it's a shame they get so big!

Size is half the problem. Their tempers mixed in with size make it a real problem.

Niles look really nice, but just aren't suited as pets in captivity.

i love them, theres no question about it the temperment makes them unsuitable for most keepers but some expereiced keepers can keep them with out a problem, or at least in some cases in my cases my first lizard and mine are fantastic

I have not had much luck with Niles with the exception of one ornate Nile. I think I read somewhere that the ornates are a bit less temperamental by nature. A lot prettier too.
Still a handful of lizard with a great potential to do harm.
Definitely not a starter lizard in spite of their affordability.

I think their great. It's my first monitor. There have been some bumps in the road, but it's been fun.

I love them, they're beautiful, big, and nasty(sometimes).
