Hi all.
Thats a lovely snake.
I have one that is out of the wild that looks like that.
Tell me what you think, is it the same type of snake ?

MudBoy - I don't think that that would be considered a jaguar (though it is spectacular!)

Jag Description:
Hatchlings are very different from normal mcdowelli, being almost patternless along the back. The background colour is light pinkish tan with light brown blotches bordered with a black edging along the sides of the entire body. As they mature the background colour brightens with no black tipping.

Pretty close though, eh? However, it's a recessive trait, so I don't know what's going on with your's ;)

Rick, you gotta breed that thing. If you have a Jag. you are literally sitting on a goldmine man! No joke.

Thankyou for the info Zoe, I will look into it asap

Jeff, I have 4 like that but I think that is the only pic I have.
That one is a wild one that we are treating for worms and ticks and mites. As soon as she is well I have to release her as the law here is very strong with reguards to wild caught snakes. She will be fine in another 2 weeks and I will let her go in my yard.
would love to keep her but no can do.
I will try and find a pic of the other light ones I have.

This is another light coloured one, A male about 9 ft.
These light coloured ones are very pretty.
does someone have a pic of a hatchling and a juvenile as I have some young I would like to compare them to.
Thanks

Rick.

No I looked again and it does not look like Mardy's snake.
Oh well, It will be something for me to play with for a while.

That looks like a striped coastal to me... if not a triple striped one. With awesome colouration. None of that greeny crap (nothing against green, i jsut don't find it particularily attractive in carpets :P).
You should hold on to the males long enough to breed to some females... then let them go :)

By the way, why do you catch snakes and treat them, then release them? Sounds likea very cool thing to do, but I am curious as to the reason behind it?

Thanks!
Zoe

Does anyone notice the jags look a little irians?

Rick, not all Jags look the same. Not even close. And the genetics aren't even worked out yet. Keep your hopes up. Its too bad you have to let her go. Why not just say that she's sick and breed her with a normal male next season? Your breeding season down under must be coming up soon, right?

:D

Zoe the males are mine, 2 of them that look like that and I have a female much the same, its just the one in the first pic I have to let go as she is wild.
These wild snakes are given to me to care for or people call us and tell us they have snakes in the house or the shed or the pool and we go and pick them up and feed and care for them till we are happy they are fit and well and then release them back to the wild.
Its kind of like wetting your pants in a dark suit, nobody nows but it feels good :)
We get them with worms and ticks and mites and sores or wounds from cats, lots of problems but most do ok and we let them go asap so they dont become dependent on us and I dont get to love em,(too much) :)

Jeff I just looked her over and she has a nasty wound on her left flank that we are tending to and she has an infection in her mouth, a wound of some sort in the upper left inside jaw that is very hard to treat so I would say she will be with us for quite a while.... She is eating well and is a lovely girl so lets hope all goes well., and you never know what can happen with so many snakes in the one room :)

Zoe The Jag looks NOTHING like an IJ, when you see
them all together nothing is the same.

Rick, Jeff said it breed light to light, I would
love to see the results. Oh check your email
I will send you a hatchling picture of the Jag.
Or go on to Morelia Inc. web site and there is several pictures at various ages.

Well at least you can let it go in your yard Mudboy. With any luck it will take up residence there. Glad to hear you are taking them from the wild treating them & releasing them again. Way to go Man, keep up the good work. Mark
P.S. I'll say it again SSSSWWWEEEEEETTTTTTTT snake!

Yeah its fun sometimes but gets a little expensive with mite spray and worm paste.
WC are full of worms and get big ticks on them. I have a WC BIG *** female in the shed with 3 giant cattle ticks on her but she is prolly round 12 ft plus and snappy as hell so im just letting her settle a bit before I treat her. I think I will fill her up with rats and chickens first, that makes em a bit slower, then get her at dawn when its cold and she is slow. A snake that size will take a full bottle of worm paste at $20 a bottle so it gets a bit expensive but worth it.

Rick.
