Well, i took my ball python to the vet today and found out i have a very sick snake :( The vet gave him some antibodics and said that there's a 50/50 chance that he will make it. I get to take him back in on Saturday to have some more meds given. I called the pet store to let them know about the snake, and the breeder had taken back the batch that my snake came with!!!:mad: They offered me a yearling, which i'm still deciding on wether to take that, or try and nurse this snake back to health. The agreement that i signed with the pet store is that the animal is healthy and free of illness. Well, thanks for listening, any ideas on what i should do? Thanks

Did the vet say what your snake had? Also the name of the antibiotics and the dosage? It is always good to check up on these things as it is common for herp vets to be quite stupid and give ridiculous antibiotics. Please fill us in.

The vet said that there were no parasites, but that it had a lot of bacteria in the stomach. She also said that he was very gassy. The vet gave him some dewormer, and this other antibiotic, i forget the name now.

Hmm, I do not think the chances of survival are that bad man. Keep your hopes up. As long as the vet didnt say he has IBD, heh.

It is Inclusion Body Disease, it is a disease that attacks the imune system in boids. In short kinda like Boids AIDS.

No no no we are not saying your snake has IBD, infact if your vet hasn't said this he doesn't. It is a very contageous disease so if your snake had it he wowuld make sure to tell you.
