I don't breed females until they are at least 14 months and over 8". They can be machines the way they produce eggs, and it's best to have the females older, with really good weight and size.

Usually males are good to go at a year old. They can be quite fiesty breeders though, so again you want to make sure breeding males have good size/weight/etc.

I have been through this debate probably a dozen times.

I put my cresties together roughly at about 8 months of age (once sexable) and as long as they have good wieght for thier age/size. They will breed when they are ready, just like in the wild. Cresties can breed as early as 10 months (yes females too).

I also know other peopel that do the same thing. Allen repashy does the same thing. But I also know of people that wait till 14 months or 12 months or 16 months.

Point is, as long as they have grown at a good rate and are obviously not to small (think of how big the eggs are to thier size) to carry eggs, then you are fine to put them together.

Most of mine pick up thier activity at 10-12 months of age.
