Hey all....
About a month and a half ago, my crested was diagnosed with MBD (metabolic bone disease) and her chance of survival was about 20%......
I was supplementing her and everything, the vet thinks it was due to a lack of uvb rays (I now have a uvb light) and lack of vitamin D3 (I don't think my cricket dust contains enough)
I've been treating my gecko with Emeraid powder (vitamins) and liquid calcium, giving about 0.2 cc's daily of the calcium and mixing the Emeraid with babyfood or water.
Before the diagnosis, she wasn't active at all (never left the same spot) couldn't climb, developed something like scoliosis in her spine, and wasn't eating live food (crickets or mealies)
Now, a month and a half after treatmeant, she's doing very well....I started reintroducing crickets the other day, and yesterday she was gobbling them up....:) She's more active, going into her hide, to her water dish, and moving in amongst the plants...
Her back legs were thicker before (twice their normal size due to something about the muscle tissue and bones that I can't really recall at the moment ) and now they have returned to normal and she can grip my hands with her legs and toes :)
I am going to take her to the vet soon, to get another X-ray (hopefully her bone density has improved)
So, I expect her to have a nice recovery :)
Anyway, just wanted to post an update, I was really kicking myself over this a little while ago :P
Thanks for listening :D
