Well my tank has been up almost two months. I know I am imptatient but I don't really feel my plants are growing fast enough....maybe they are...but thats why I have these comparision photos....maybe you guys can tell me if this looks so good so far?

One month ago: (ignore the red writing, put there to ask a question while ago)

This afternoon:

Notice how the plants in the back right have lost all there nice leaves, and although they have grown taller they have grown more "scraggly" and less full. Also in the first photo you can see the baby plants floating...I have since planted those and that type of plant seems to be doing really well in this tank as it is.

I think I maybe need more light? I don't use a fertilizer either :( I haven't found one and when I go to look there are 50 types.

P,S, ignore the back left. I hate that damn corner and I haven't found anything to place there that hides the heater yet.

Marisa..you already solved your own problem. Its a small tank, so just add some peat..hagen floss type brand into the filter, and try and get your light wattage as close to 2 watts per gallon if possible....your swords are thinning out..those are really easy to grow..if you add a light or two..just buy grow bulbs from canadian tire..or home depot or? Give it a months try and they will double, i promise :) Try this approach...au naturel before you go for the chemicals....or, there is a nice little O2 system that superpet sells for about $40 and it works wonders. Good Luck ;) :D

i should probably add that most plants will be stunned after they are replanted..some take immediately, some loose almost all foilage and then grow back like mad...trim the dead leaves or thinning ones and leave a nice path for the light to get the tender ones..dont worry, the new leaves always grow back bigger! :D

Thanks Shane!

I will do as you suggested and be patient!

Egeria will do that with not enough light, especially once it reaches the surface. It's one of the reasons I don't keep it anymore and I have a lot of light.

The swords I wouldn't worry about. Like Shane said, they'll come along.
