For the past few days, my crested gecko, Gimli, has been having trouble climbing up the glass in his aquarium. So i tried moving him into an extra large critter carrier but he still can't seem to be able to hang on to the plastic!!! He can't even hang onto my skin anymore without sliding down my arm. So I put a lot of cardboard stairs all over the walls so that he can still climb around off the ground but I am wondering...why can't he climb the glass?! It has nothing to do with shedding, that's for sure...he hasn't even been walking around on the ground all that much either but when he does, he seems to have no trouble whatsoever walking. What can possibly be wrong?! Should I bring him to the vet? It's been about three days since he has been doing this and I am starting to get extremely worried....Thanks in advance!

Doesn't sound too good..

Is it eating ?

Because I had a similar problem with a Uroplatus and it died within 2 weeks.. When a lizard that is used to climbing or sticking to glass isn't doing it anymore, it's sign that something is very wrong.

Sorry I have no suggestions to bring, hope someone here will be able to help.

I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow at 11:30. He is eating like a pig though...I think that he hurt himself :( Maybe a broken bone or something...

Oh ! if he's eating then it is a good sign.. like you say, maybe he hurt himself and that's why he can,t keep to the glass.

Hope he'll be fine.

Emily, maybe he's just shedding? When i first got my crestie, our first shed kind of freaked me out......
Has his colour turned greyish or milky at all? He could just be trapped in his old skin....

Can you elaborate on your husbandry a bit for us? Day/night temps etc?

Keep us posted!

um are your temps maybe to warm cause that can kill them and sometimes thats an early sign

I'm also leaning towards shedding since it's very uncommon for a cb crested to have any type of disease. It also might be a problem with hard water build-up on the glass, it can get in the lamellae which makes it hard to get a good grip.
I'm sure your crested will be alright. :)
