Do you mark the turtles (shell filings or whatever) so you can monitor their movement patterns etc?

We do that with Box turtles down here...it's amazing how small their ranges are. An Eastern box turtle, on average spends it entire life in an area the size of a football field.

LOL. I was getting my self all worked up for a rant after I saw Queen Snakes ;) Then saw it was catch and release. I have seen people keep them. uggh. nothing like a specialist feeder. :) Good luck and have fun. Herpetological field work is always fun.

MAN!! i am so aching all over!!! wrinkled toes...cuts..sore muscles!!hahhaha thats why i love field work... just got home..and it was really good today...got data on abt. 12 wood turtles...too bad the queen snakes were still kinda in "hibernation"...i found that the crayfish were just starting to come out cos' the water is warming up...so i think it'll take a bit of time b4 they come out again...who knows...i left early so probably the other guys would find more wood turtles and queen snakes.... i'll post pictures once i get them scanned....
BWSMITH : keep queen snakes?? who does that? i mean i would imagine it would be extremely laborious too..since they eat only FRESHLY molted crayfish...must be insane trying to get crayfish..let alone at that stage..unless you breed a HUGE colony of them youself....i can't see how they would do well in captivity...
