So my Dad brought back some pics of some snakes from his trip to India. He went to the Southern part of India. Here are some shots from it.

From a roadside show. Still dunno if those spectacleds had their mouths sewn shut or had their fangs pulled. Either way I don't think my dad realised the potential danger he could have been in.

These shots were taken from a zoo. I could guess the Ahaetulla and the Daboia russelli out but dunno the other two. Probably some kinda Naja too.

Sweet pics! You got me all excited about my trip to South India in August now! I don't think your dad had anything to worry about with the cobra's the snake charmer had. I think that all the snake charmers remove the fangs, glands or sew the mouth shut. Most of these snakes end up dying and they just go and catch another from what I understand.

I will probably be spending some time with the Irula tribe in India who are great snake catchers they used to catch snakes for the leather trade and for snake charmer shows but now work with the Madras Crocodile Bank to catch snakes for anti-venin production.

Great pics.. I will have some to show u guys in August.

Yo Baz! You Tamil? That's so cool that you're going with the Irula tribe. I've heard about them too. Have fun on ur trip man. I'm hoping to go sometime next year too. Wanna see a Russell's viper in the wild.

Yea Matt, I loved the cobra pics too. Too bad the resolution wasn't set to higher, then I could have print out a large poster sized photo. Now THAT would be sweet!

Dunno why he didn't get closer though. Probably not used to the camera to use the macro function. He had just bought this new toy.

So any ideas on what those un-id'ed snakes are?
