I'm not well versed in the lesser known species of varanid, so I can't rule it out, but I am fairly certain that there is no such species as a dwarf savannah.....

I'd ave to second that.. there are a few sub species.. some being a bit smaller, local wise, but not really enough to give it the Dwarf aspect..

I think anyway lol

The term "dwarf" (when applied to monitors) only covers the species that fall under the subgenus Odatria........sav's do not.
I have seen a few stunted sav's in my day that ramain around the 2 foot mark, but this is usually due to inadequate husbandry as youngsters.

I doubt he was sold a dwarf sav as they do not exist.. He probably got his info mixed up. He had dwarf monitors and savs for sale.. maybe the names got tangled up.

Still an amazing animal to have..

I Highly doubt it was sold as a "Dwarf" sav from Grant's Store.
Both he and his employee's are very knowledgable and that would be quite the boo - boo, Which i can't see them making.
As Dom formentioned, He probably mixed up the information somehow.

Good luck with the sav though.
