Ok what's the best to use for an incubator?? Like is vermiculite is best or is there something better like perlite?? Also for an incubator would it work have a 10g tank with an UTH, coving the bottem with water and then have a shoebox type thing to actually hold the eggs in it?? Also what humidity does it have to be at?? . I did have a sheet with all this info but I lost it.

I would use a styrofoam cooler or something that better insulates than a 10G tank which will not get hot enough with only a UTH. I personally think a Hovabator is worth the money. The rest of your questions I don't know the answers to.

I was thinking the UTH because my room is quite warm anyway and I would be able to keep the water and the air warm, the UTH would add that little bit of extra heat. Right by my space heater it's around 80-85 and then it goes right down to 65-70 in the rest of the room. So I can place it kinda by the heater and have the UTH for the little bit extra heat. So knowing that then is it still better to have a styrofoam cooler??

I'd still go with a Hova since you can set the temp to exactly what you want, especially if you want to pre-determine the sex of the babies.

Well, from what I read, you don't want the temps fluxiating too much, even if it stays within the desired temperature range... I am planning on getting a 1.1 leo pair sometime soon, and would like to know some cheap but effective ways of incubating, as I am pretty pressed moneywise. I know this is someone elses post, but how much do you think it would cost to make that incubator in that link, or does anyone know of a cheaper way?
Thanks,
