Hi guys, I have experienes of keeping non venomous species I decided to go for venomous. In my country are no venomous snakes except of viper which is an endangered specie and is not kept in captivity. I would like to know at least 5-10 species you would recommend and its general care if you be so kind. I tried to handle several times a.chlorechis and I felt enough self confident with the hooks while friend mentored me. Though I received an offer for gaboon viper and naja nigricentris I dont feel yet so much confident...or better said I dont even think that it is a good idea to get first venomous cobra...I might be wrong, but I think there is enough time for this highly venomous species after I gain more experience, I know that this is spitting cobra, but still think its not suitable as a starting venomous snake. Please if you be so kind and give me 10 or so species in latin please, which might be a good pick, Ill be very greatfull. Note that Im at my 40's, responsible and not a child, so Im sure about what I want and steps that need to be done before buying venomous species. Thank you very much for help in advance and greetings from Czechia, excuse my English please

You should start by checking which venomous snakes you can legally keep and whether you need a license to keep them where you live. This is because, like you mentioned early on, some species aren't meant to be kept in captivity due to their being endangered.

You should also find a mentor local to you who can help you learn how to do this properly and most important, safely for you and the snake.

Unfortunately, we do not have many Czech members here but maybe someone else in Europe may know where to look!
