Hi! This is my first post, and not a post that I wanted to make. I have a baby male albino KSB (he’s about 10” long, I don’t know how old he is). I got him on August 25th, 2017 at the Midwest Reptile Show. I had him for about a month when his mice suddenly disappeared, so we bought him new mice (from a pet store, not the small company we originally got him from). He ate one, then went off food for about a month. It was around that time that I figured his buld heater wasn’t going deep enough in his substrate, and so I got him a mat heater. We also got him pinkies from the first company again. He immediately ate one pinky. He refused his food last Friday, and I noticed he had a bit of a lighter pattern about 1/4 of an inch behind his eye. I thought it looked like he was going into shed, so I brushed off him not eating to that, besides, I’ve heard stories of KSBs going off their food for months. His red bulb went out that night, so i replaced it with a white light one. Two nights ago, he was on the cool side of the tank, completely still. He seemed to be a bit dazed when I picked him up. I thought that he wasn’t warm enough, and put him on his heat mat, and put a light layer of sand over him. I moved the lamp to the other side, just in case he went over to that side again. I left him all yesterday and today. I got back today, and when I picked him up, he was completely still, but not really completely stiff, like he had died (Then again, I’ve never seen or felt a dead snake). Does anyone know what happened? It seems like he’s in torpor (hibernation due to temperature as opposed to daylight cycle). Is this what’s happening? Is he dead? If so, why and how? Please respond!!!
