good point boidkeeper! but what country/area does this affect?
is it for certain "dangerous" animals such as venomous or overly large animals? if you gave more info lizzy and more of a specific subject then it would be a good question :)

no why should there be bans. maybe too those who don't take care of reptiles then maybe i can see a ban.but for all of us that love them there should be no subject like this....

Living in a city where you are not allowed to own Boas or Pythons, I find that it is hard to comprehend the by-law or it's blanket inclusion of all Boidae species. The by-law from it's initial passing was done so without ANY educated input whatsoever. The by-law was passed based on a learned fear of snakes and of a Hollywood bias of Constrictors. I am in the (long) process of lobbying to ammend the By-law in the Durham region. I am planning ammending the by-law by Snake Lenght, not by species. This is because a by-law officer once said to me that,"who can tell what species a snake is just by looking at it". So maybe they can carry a yard stick or a tape measure....word...charlie
