So i'm gonna start building remy = retic enclosure this weekend. its gonna be
8ft by 3ft by 2ft.

What i was wonder is if i make the frame out of pine and the rest of it red oak. will that be okay? its going have a water proof sealant all of the out side and inside of the enclosure. Will the pine be okay? or will still harm my snake?

the walls, top, bottom, and cage door will all be made of oak. just the frame will be made out of pine so no pine will actually be inside the enclosure.

If it's sealed, it would be fine.

so seal the pine as well or is sealing just oak on the outside and inside of the enclosure fine.

I would seal the outside as well as it's going to protect the wood from degrading. It'll last longer and look nice for longer if you finish both the inside and outside, but if pine's only on the outside and you don't want to finish it, I suppose that'll work too.

ill seal both as it will look nicer. i was just wondering if it was safe without sealing the pine. but outside oak and inside of the enclosure will all by sealed

Probably nicer painted on the outside, that's what we did with Jenny's viv and it looks far better ;)

I'm planning a big Viv build but am contemplating a frameless design using 90 degree screw strips on down the edges.

If I do go the framed route everything will be sealed inside and out to within an inch of its life!

i've thought about, i seal the whole thing even the pine frame.

I'm not sure what mines built out of, my mate who builds vivs knocked it up for me :). But I sealed the life clean out of the inside especially base, and gave the outside 3 under coats and then 3 coats off eggshell paint on top of that.

If it's sealed even pine would technically be OK. That epoxy stuff people use basically turns the inside into plastic anyways. Just got to make sure you get all the nooks and crannies.
