Hi Matt and welcome to the forum. In the wild ball pythons live in rodent burrows and they have been found under termite mounds as it makes them feel safe, so being in a fish tank where they can be seen from all sides is not ideal, unless you cover 3 sides. The plastic snake cage will be better because it will hold the temperature and humidity as glass will not. So in my opinion and a lot of others I have read I would choose the plastic snake cage.
Thank u martin I have read hours and hours of stuff. Everything thing days some thing different. But I set up the plastic used snake cage. I am in love with it now still a little crying use to but humidity and temps where perfect all night.

You're welcome Matt, pleased it's working for you.
You will find many conflicting theories, story's etc. When I first got my bearded dragons I read that one breeder said you should not use sand as a substrate as it causes impaction and your animal will die, then I read from another breeder who said "I've been using sand for 30 years and Ive never had one die" so you think hang on who do I believe, but its not as bad as that with snake keepers.
