I'm hoping to get a rosy boa in a few months and not 100% sure about what would be a good tank size for one. I've read pretty much every care sheet I could find on the internet, and the recommendations seem to vary widely--I've seen everything from males or females could be kept in a 10 gallon (sounds way too small), to both can be in a 20L, to males can be in a 20L, females should be in at least a 40 gallon, to both need at least a 40 gallon.

I got to hold a 5 year old male rosy a few days ago and he seemed like he would be plenty comfortable in a 20 long (30" x 12" x 12"); he seemed to be ~2 feet long and probably about as thick as a quarter at his widest. I know females are generally larger, but I'm not really clear on how much bigger on average, and if one would be comfortable in that same tank size. I'm still not sure which gender I want, but I'm trying to get an idea of the space requirements for either to help me decide.

So, my question: those of you with adult rosy boas, what size enclosure are you using and roughly how big is your rosy? If you have pictures of your setup, I would really appreciate seeing those too!

Many stick with a 10g. I like my adult, supposedly female and 3years (probably close to 3'), in a 20 long. I don't see any need for a larger tank than that unless you just like setting up a natural design and watching them move around in the evening. They are fairly nocturnal so most of the day mine is in a shelter or crammed between the shelter and glass. In the evening she slowly wanders the middle. If she's hungry she will hang out stretched diagonal from the corner to the center over the water dish watching everything.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I managed to pick up one of those national geographic sanctuary terrariums at petsmart the other day, so it should be perfect. It was the 30x12x12, which I had read was discontinued, and it was only 50 bucks, so I couldn't pass up a deal that good!

Males can be housed in as small as 10 gallons and a large female in 20 gallon long. They ate pretty chill snakes and don't need much. My adults live in 32 quart tubs.

I would go with a 10 gallon for males or small females but Females tend to be larger so you should probably go with a 20 gal for the females.
