Brumation chambers

I'm getting ready to brumate my adult W.hognose (superconda het albino x purple line conda het albino) and I'm going back and forth on different chambers. I looked at wine coolers,soda coolers and mini fridges. I really like the soda coolers for the glass doors and flat shelves but I've heard soda coolers have temperature variant issues. Suggestion and feedback would be appreciated.

I have a big, old school metal fridge hooked to a ranco but I don't keep a lot in it since my basement hits the 40s anyway. It's big but useable space is less than you'd think.

Wow, I didn't know you could do it with fridge. Not to run off with the topic but what does the snake reside in inside the chamber?

I put them in plastic boxes with air holes and offer water regularly. Humidity/substrate depends on the species. Most of my snakes will breed without any brumation anyway tho so I just do a very short period unless I have reason to believe more is required.

How short a time do you brumate? I've had my guys in for 3 weeks. I was planning 6-8

How short a time do you brumate? I've had my guys in for 3 weeks. I was planning 6-8 Probably better to plan on 12 weeks. 3 month brumaton is pretty standard for garter snakes. Hognose I think would require similar duration to adequately give the sex cells time to mature. Usually less time brumating can result in smaller or no litters. Adequate brumating temperatures are important also.
