View Full Version : New corn snake (NOT WC)

I got a little runny corn snake (smaller than the one I cought, even!) whose name as yet is undecided. I don't know if it was a male or female but its a very curious and explorative snake, shes got energy and she was stalking me in and out of the hide, even ducking behind newspaper shreds so she was out of my line of sight. unlike the WC corn that just liked to hide, a bright contrast in comparison. She came home with a months supply of fuzzies and her home prepared and UTH warm. Its interesting to see different behaviour in different species. Maybe its the mice (this one won't recieve any frozen lizards from me...)

Keep the snake on mice. Lizards are not exactly a stable for corn snakes. Those are for king snakes.

Kings should be fed mice as well.

True, but they naturally eat snakes, lizards, and frogs in the wild where as corn and rat snakes predominantly eat rodents.

Corns actually will frequently eat lizards as well as tree frogs in the wild as neonates, and neither corns nor kings should be offered lizards in captivity, mainly due to the risk of internal parasites and lack of supply for most people.

I could find them but they're just not worth catching and freezing (which would presumably kill the parasites). Plus I bet it'll be a fast growing snake. I want to guess this one is two months old and the WC was 4-5 months.

Freezing will not kill all parasites, either. :)

Its going to be fascinating to see it grow up. I'm sure he'll be snug as a bug with me

He's stayed like this for 15 minutes till I put him in the cage even through all the moving
