Congrats to dave himself for winning the last photo contest!

Get your field-herping shoes on! July's photo contest theme is:

Wild Herps. No pets allowed! :)

The rules are as follows:

1) Each participant is allowed only one entry. Photos submitted by anyone must be taken by you and not be a picture from the internet.

2) Pictures must be related to reptiles only and must be within the theme set by last month's winner in order to be eligible.

3) The winner may choose the theme for the next contest, but may not participate in it.

4) It is understood that the winner gives his or her permission for their winning entry to be posted on the portal page, and/or otherwise used by sSnakeSs.com with credit being given to the photographer.

5) No photoshopping. Minor edits are OK, but the photo must be as close to the original as possible.

The winner will be chosen by a poll conducted on the forum.

The deadline to submit is Sunday, August 3rd, at midnight eastern standard US time. After that we will vote.

Please note: this thread is for submissions only. If you wish to discuss the contest/submissions, please post in this month's discussion thread.

this is a banded rock rattlesnake (crotalus lepidus klauberi), a high elevation montane rattlesnake home to Arizona's sky islands!

they are a small species and can be extremely hard to find. i hiked 8 miles before seeing this one, not to mention the countless trips down there where we didn't see any at all! lol

This one is a few years old now, but it's one of my favorite wild herp photos.

I'm pretty sure that's an adult red iguana actually.

There was a group of green iguanas nearby too. The guide told us that the old ones turn orange-ish at an advanced age, but don't know if this is true, but there were some others with orange tones in the tail :D This guy in the photo was gigantic.

Do insects qualify?

No. The theme is Wild Herps and an insect isn't a herp.
