So I finally had the money and messaged a breeder I've been wanting an anaconda from for a long time. I've been wanting one for years and finally decided I'm ready for one. Luckily he had one left, and bonus, turned out it's a male! (I'm better naming males than females).

So here he is! Meet Toki!

I'm going to look at some suggestions from anaconda owners and see how they have their set-ups. I know one person who keeps his fully aquatic, but the breeder said just a bowl was fine. I'm torn between things so will look at some who've successfully raised them and have healthy anacondas. If anyone has any, feel free to share some tips! I've been getting mixed things online as well for set-ups.

Very cool! I have no experience with these but I'm imagining some cool enclosures...

The only snakes I know of that need full aquatic setups are the elephant trunk snakes. Anacondas certainly like a large enough water bowl to soak in, but they don't live in the water 24/7 like a true aquatic snake. Keep in mind that whatever you keep the snake in will need to be cleaned regularly, so simple is better in that respect.

:D I really am thinking of doing both. I have an idea where I could split the tank and half the tank would be water, then half with substrate, places to hide, etc. I'm going to keep him in his current enclosure for a little while until he gets slightly bigger as I'm so scared to stress him. And during that time I could get my other snakes into their new enclosures (switching to pvc) so I'll have better space.

If I had something like this and had my own house, I would probably do a huge enclosure with a river type thing running along the front and into a much bigger pond. Or maybe something around 8x8 or 6x6 that would have a big island in the middle of the water. Planted would be cool but I could see them getting destroyed.

If the tank is big enough, why not use a short but wide sterilite tub? Bigger than a bowl but light enough to pull out and clean!

Agreed! I use for my BCI, very lightweight, cheap, easy to clean, and easy to find in stores.

I agree. That is what I have for my adult BCI. Though I had to reinforce it with a large porcelain dog bowl placed in the middle because he (my snake) likes to hang on the rim of the sterilite tub and tip it lol. He hates water, so he won't get in it to soak, just drink. But so inexpensive and easy to clean!

It's actually after a character in metalocalypse, a cartoon type show.

And yes I'm definitely planning a big sterile bin for a water dish. I have that for my boas as well as one of them likes to sometimes dunk herself in it or chill at the rim of it. I'll be fixing up his tank tomorrow with more water and more things.
