View Full Version : How to use a punnette square.
Would someone be willing to show me how you would enter a paradigm het anery x sharp snow in a punnette square? Bit confusing for me!

Gimme time to get home and I'll do a vid to explain it. Hard to explain via text.

Well I got into it, and it easily became overwhelming, to be real honest. Been a while since I've done punnetts. Plus, I'm no snake breeder, so I'm not too terribly experienced on what's dominant, what's recessive, etc.
From looking around, it seems the Paradigm morph is a double heterozygous gene, snow is a double recessive(homozygous), and sharp is a recessive(homozygous).
Since two of those are doubles, it's going to be a pretty large punnett square, hence why I said it quickly became overwhelming, lol...
This may help you with just starting out with punnetts:

Here's the information I used on the morphs:
Descriptions of Boa Morphs (http://www.blumenboas.com/boamorphs.htm)
Here's a guide from NERD:
New England Reptile Distributors, designer Ball Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, and much more! (http://www.newenglandreptile.com/genetics_simple_recessive.html)
And here's a calculator where you can add traits/genes, and input variables for them to get a quick calculation and estimation of outcome.

It's actually a really cool pairing.
Since the paradigm is (as I read it) just a double het and not homozygous for the genes then that animal is a triple het.
Then we're breeding it to a double visual albino/anery.
Without using punnetts we can figure how each baby may end up.
You could produce:
Snows
Sharp albino
Anery
Everything else will be double het for anery and sharp albino.
The kicker here is that each of the animals would be possible het for BWC. Since the sharp albino and BWC make paradigms then you'll know which ones are those however I don't know how it interacts with visual snows/anerys/albinos.
Since the snow doesn't have the BWC you won't see any actual visual BWC.
Thank you for the input! Much appreciated
