I made a trip to my old stomping grounds earlier this year, Arizona.

These are just a small part of what I found.

This is a big male speckled rattlesnake (C.m.pyrrhus)

Great photos! I really like the variable sand snake as I had never seen one before. Do they burrow like sand boas?

Second on that sand snake. I've had a thing for those since seeing a picture of one in the field guide I got when I was 5 but have never seen one. In fact, I don't recall seeing a picture of one in any other book aside from that field guide, and I've got a lot of books! Very cool, thanks for posting that.

Yes, they burrow very well. They also have a meet diet. DIET: The Variable Sandsnake feeds on a variety of insects including roaches and grasshoppers. It also feeds on centipedes.

That little mojave green is gorgeous

I really liked that mojave to. It was a young female. They can be extremely green in that particular area.
