I've looked online, searched the forums, all that jazz. I just want to know general guidelines on feeders vs snake size. What size feeders do yall give to what size boas? When do yall usually bump them up each time? This is my first kenyan so I'm not real sure when to step her up. She's about 12-13" right now and eats a pinky or two if she'll take it every week.

If she is truly 13 inches in length, she could easily take fuzzies or even hoppers , but its hard to say without seeing a picture. Do you know how old she is?

I'm not real sure on age. I think she's around 7 or 8 months? Last I measured her she was 12" if I recall correctly. The pinkies don't even leave a bump.

Ok I just had my wife measure her since I'm not home. She's a little over 12". I have a few pictures I'll post em up in a minute.

Cant wait to see the pictures! But I would definitely bump up the prey size to at least mice fuzzies.:)

I'll post them as soon as I get stupid photobucket to work haha. If I go up to fuzzies when should I take her up to hoppers and so on?

Definitely can take hoppers, if not weaned mice ...:)

Oh wow that's a lot bigger than I expected! haha I'm used to working with skinnier snakes with larger looking heads not the other way around so I'm a little thrown off haha. Thanks for the help! I'm assuming she wont take adult mice until she's near full grown?

Off topic, but I thought sand wasn't actually a great idea for these snakes? Sure, they're named "sand boas" but they don't actually live...on loose sand like that. Like, they're used to more loamy soils where they burrow, etc.

So, definitely bigger prey if the pinks aren't even leaving much of a bulge, and maybe try aspen or another substrate as well. Then when fuzzies aren't leaving much bulge, time for hoppers!

I personally dont use sand myself, as it sticks to all parts of the animal. I do prefer using shredded aspen for all my kenyans and my rough scale sand boa..there are certain sand that is not too bad, like washed playground sand...the calcium sand sold at pet stores is horrible though..

Yeah I stopped using Calci-Sand years ago when it killed one of my leopard geckos. It wasn't until after that I found out about it impacting in their digestive systems ( I wasn't very active on forums back then).
