Mikoh inspired me to take her out, looking at his carpets. So here she is, sass and all. She didn't go into strike position at all, just moved quickly when I touched her, so that's progress. The lighting wasn't the best, I believe the natural light and red tank top washed her out a bit, trust me she's super bright. ;)
The bulge you see also is a meal, I fed the two a couple days ago, still needs to digest :)
Thanks for looking, I'll have some of Ezio, the red tail up later.

Thanks a lot everybody. :D I pulled her out of my her enclosure inside the tank top and she was flipped over and in a knot lol, she didn't feel like moving at first. She's quite the character. :)

I have an irian jaya carpet as well, wish I wasn't completely out of date with my awesome razor phone or I'd have pics. Ziggy was my only snake to bite me and she did twice. She was super young at the time so you can't blame her for biting the "hand of god" trying to pick her up. I used a snake hook to get her out of the tank, and then handled her for a while once she was out. Didn't take long for me to be able to reach in and grab her, but I will say this. They just seem to be a jumpy species. If you just nudge your snake and let her smell you before grabbing her, the second contact with them is much more relaxed. Anyways, hope that helps. Ziggy is my favorite to handle because she's all over the place no matter if shes being handled or in the tank!

She's actually a jungle, I had an IJ though, never bit or struck once:) though she was an adult. Haha thanks anyways everyone

Got her and Ezio into the nice big tank to make room for the two additions within the next couple months and she seems way more comfortable but still only comes out at night, and as always a heat seeking missile. It seems like she's only getting worse with her attitude, lol. She went back into hiding for a while, I don't think she liked the big black thing clicking at her every 30 seconds lol! I hope to get more pics of her tonight, it's hard though. I have to just press the button with the camera on the tripod and walk away because it's so dark in there, so the shutter speed is SUPER slow, the slightest movement makes it blurry. :)

She's a good looking girl! I love the little toy boat btw. Is her aggression food related or defensive behavior?

Kera
07-08-14, 05:52 PM
Thank you :) I don't think it's food aggression, it's always defensive. She never latches on and holds on, and she doesn't even attack her food. If I move in front of the glass too much or even move my hand she strikes at the glass. Once she's out she's kind of okay, as long as you're very still and in a quiet room alone.

Thanks Mikoh! You're girl is going to be just as stunning. I wish I could get pics that really did her yellows justice, she isn't as yellow as yours but it's definitely more yellow than it looks! :)

Mine does have a headstart(she's big for her age...breeder fed her a lot), but the parents of your snake are just as yellow(And similar hare bloodlines). I think she'll become a trophy.

I've found it usually just takes playing around with white balance and ISO to get the colors really accurate.

Thanks! I'll love her just as much either way, no matter how bright or not bright and feisty she is lol.:)

I'll try that out tonight when she starts moving around. Gotta try to get rid of the reflection in the glass too.
