Well, I have a corn snake now. As many of you know I wound up with a yellow rat snake that I was totally unhappy with. Nobody here wanted to work with her. My daughter suggested getting rid of her and getting another corn snake. I told her it was up to her, so she contacted the breeder that she got her 2013 corn from earlier this year, and they wanted her, and offered her a "mystery" snake. They had a corn snake that they got at a show.
No one knows how old it is, or where it came from, just that its a male "normal".
I didn't really want a normal corn, but I figured at least the kids could enjoy another one (they each have a 2013). Better than having the yellow that nobody would go near. So I told her to make the deal. Better than nothing, right?
Then they show me this picture

hmmmm, now I'm starting to feel a bit differently about this whole deal.
I go over there to make the trade, and I'm met by this

I instantly fell in love. We were talking with the people for at least 45 minutes and I was holding the snake the whole time. He's very alert and curious, just a little bit head shy, but tolerated handling extremely well.
He's home now, we named him Higgins after David Spade's character on Grownups "just say corn. Maize is corn everybody" Like I said, I have no idea how old he is, or where he came from. I am curious to see what he turns out like. I really love the way he looks now and I hope he's old enough to have most of his adult coloring. I really hope he doesn't change much. He's currently 123 grams and is settling in to his new home.
I snapped a few pics while transferring him from the box to his enclosure.
