Congrats to MDT for winning February's photo contest! MDT has proposed this as March's photo contest theme:

"Herps in the Wild" : Only field herping photos with the animal "in situ" and unmolested.
It can be ANY photo of a herp in the wild that you have ever taken. It does not need to be recent.

The rules are as follows:

1) Each participant is allowed only one entry. Photos submitted by anyone must be taken by you and not be a picture from the internet.

2) Pictures must be related to reptiles only and must be within the theme set by last month's winner in order to be eligible.

3) The winner may choose the theme for the next contest, but may not participate in it.

4) It is understood that the winner gives his or her permission for their winning entry to be posted on the portal page, and/or otherwise used by ssnakess.com with credit being given to the photographer.

5) No photoshopping. Minor edits are OK, but the photo must be as close to the original as possible.

The winner will be chosen by a poll conducted on the forum.

The deadline to submit is Friday, March 21st, at midnight eastern standard US time. After that we will vote.

Yeah, yeah....I know the weather sucks, but I am having bad seasonal affective disorder going on. It doesn't have to be from THIS year...just some outside shots. I need to see sun and grass.

I'm going to take some pictures of wild carpets tomorrow....here in NY. It's not like I own carpets either so you'll know they are real.

I took this picture of an Alligator mississippiensis who had caught a large Florida softshell turtle (Apalone ferox) in the Everglades National Park in 2012. It is actually one of the less gory pictures I took, the turtle was already dead. When I arrived, it was still alive but had no chance to escape.

Eyelash put viper. Took this two weeks ago in Costa Rica. We were in a night walk and I happened to turn my head and this guy was maybe 6 inches from my face. So much for a guide finding all the killer things first haha
