Just an update on my centralian. He's about 14 months old now, 40 inches long and 270 g. Nicest snake ever; never had any of the nippiness you hear about with carpets. He would bite when he's hungry but a quick tap on the shoulder with the hook calms him right down. Can't wait till he gets bigger!

Awesome looking carpet.. and that setup looks really nice as well!

Do you have any pictures of the full enclosure?

Thanks. It's been difficult for me to get a good pic of the whole enclosure w/o getting reflection or flash. I might try pivoting the book case it's on to see if I can remedy that. What you see is a hide and background made from styrofoam and grout, a gnarly piece of wood I found and a few sticks covered in lichens (reindeer moss). The funny thing is it looks like habitat from the Pacific Northwest and nothing like central australia, but hey, it's pretty to look at.

Ahhh that's what I thought it was, very nicely done from what I can see in the picture. I have near future plans of building an enclosure and doing the same for a background. Its always nice to see others to get an idea of what to expect and what is possible.

In regards to the pacific northwest, I'm sure your carpet doesn't even notice LOL I'm sure they're plenty happy in that set-up

nice :)

re flash glare - put a piece of thin white paper in front of the flash, this helps diffuse it a little bit - if your camera doesnt focus by strobing the flash, then you might need to slow the shutter or open the aperture up a bit (drop the f number down)

I have plans to build a final enclosure built into a floor to ceiling book case this spring, but my little guy was getting too big too fast. He's now 45 inches and 400g, so I put together a temporary cage using a plastic bin on its side. A UTH wasn't enough for heat so it's got a CHE on top of a cut out with screen. So I've got a 96F basking spot under the CHE and low 80s under the warm hide from the UTH. Cool side is 70. I'm pretty happy with it. That's a strip of shower panelling caulked in the front for a substrate dam, and the potted plant is soemthing i picked up in CA. It's in the stonecrop family but not sure what genus. I meausred the bin and it calculated out to 39 gallon.
