I just got what i believe to be a common boa from someone who got it from someone it has been kept out side in a plastic container with no heat inside was some shed and poop and fluid iam guessing because of the rain today mixed with the. feces.also no substrate. The snake seems healthy to me very strong climbed straight up a wall but anyways when i got there i wiped him off with a wet rag but is there a better way to clean him. He is a beautiful snake very nice and active guessing he is hungry( think its a he has very prominent spurs) and about four to five foot long

Baths! Fill the tub with luke warm water and let it swim for several minutes. Not sure how deep to fill it though. I'd fill it up just high enough so the boa can still touch the floor with ti's body and not be submerged.

Can't believe he was kept outside. Lucky he made his way into your care.

I fill the tub just enough for my snakes to fully submerge themselves, but still touch the ground. And not enough for them to drown, either.

He's bathed so substrated and feed. He is in the same room as my other snakes which i know is a bad idea but the only way i can give him heat untell tomtomorrow. he is above one of my other snakes by its heat lamp. He was balled up when i opened the cage this time ( before his bath he looked like he was ready to eat lol) but i put the rat by his nose and he came out for some food with a quickness lol.

He's a Red tail Boa (probably Common/BCI). Nice colors. I'm glad that got him out of those conditions.

I think but iam not sure that he is a common boa. This is a pic of my other boa blue which i believe is a bcc or redtail some others on here think it is a bci. But iam no expert or anywhere close lol.

But iam no expert or anywhere close lol. I'm not super familiar with BCC's, but I've heard of ways of telling BCI from BCC and I'd say it's plausible. Especially with how dang clean those saddles are. I would say that your rescue if def a BCI, though.
In case you don't know... Basically their are two types of Redtail Boas.
BCI [Boa Constrictor Imperator - Common Boa]
BCC [Boa Constrictor Constrictor - True Redtail]
Basically, from the tiny bit of info I have, BCC's are usually a little larger than BCI, and have nice clean saddles compared to the pepper/speckles on a BCI's Saddles. I have never done any actual research on this, so please take it with a grain of salt.

So i set him up with a 54 gallon tote and a heating pad and a Digital temp humidity guage have a cheap good for now hide i made out of a cardboard box as ive been hit with alot of unexpected financial issues lately. But should be good for now. Is the any problems with the rubbermaid tote? What should i do for lighting? Do i need it if i do i could modify it. And he is also in another room

No lighting is necessary :) Does he have air holes, though?

Yes i put holes in it. I need a batt and charger for my drill so i just heated up a few screwdrivers and poked some holes lol.

i fill the bath and make sure the waters at the correct temperature by using a lazer temperature gun

i let the snake swim around and soak, using my fingers to remove any stubborn dirt/grime

always supervise a snake when its in a bath

cheers shaun

Bad news went to go change his substrate and found him dead. Real sad about it .he looked so healthy i know he was alive yesterday, because i heard him hissing when i was working on a enclosure next to him. A section of his ribs where broken and it felt like his spine was broken in two places. I have no idea how this is possible.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss!

Could a cage decoration have fallen on him? Or was he ever fed live? Those are the only two theories I can come up with....

RIP big guy.

He has been fed live i think once or twice but not for awhile as i do not like it. He was a good size snake and strong there was nothing in his cage that could do this. Its messed up. I cant figure it out trying not to thinl about it.

I'm so sorry about your loss! Boas are one of my favorite snakes...you did a great thing by rescuing him. He lived his last few months happy and spoiled, that's for sure!
