So in two days, this upcoming tuesday, will mark me having my 15" male coastal hatchling for two weeks and my 2' jungle for one week. I have tried to feed the CCP several times with no luck and tried the JCP twice before today. Both with fuzzies, both live and f/t. so today I went to the local herp/pet shop and picked up crickets for my chameleon, 2 fuzzies, 1 large rat pup, and one adult mouse (cause they were out of hoppers). All live. So I tried the CCP baby with a live fuzzy first, this was the most interest he's ever shown, he struck and bit it a bunch but wouldn't hold or constrict (still trying with him). So then I tried the JCP. She was coiled up in the corner (this is the first day she wasn't on a perch), so I grabbed the rat pup by the tail and started to lower it to dangle it over her coil, and right as I started I accidentally dropped it right in the middle of her tight coil and she instantly grabbed it, wrapped it, and squeezed the life out of it and then proceeded to swallow it. She then climbed right back up to her perch to sleep it off under her heat lamp. Now I'm glad I accidentally dropped it on her, because it was more of a reflex strike and she didn't have much time to sniff it and realize it was a rat and not a mouse. As the place I bought her from was feeding her 2 pinkies every 5 days, and I was worried she might be a picky one. One thing that might have helped though was that the rat was in the bag with the two fuzzy mice. But hopefully, she'll take rats without a fuss from now on. Now I need to figure out what the heck I'm going to do with this adult mouse, maybe one of my fish can eat it. Now I've just got to gt this little coastal eating. I've tried live fuzzies, f/t with torn skin on the head and exposed brain. I think starving him out is my best bet, so I'll try waiting another week before attempting to feed him again.
